His Approach to Surgical Care

Alastair Windsor’s surgical ethos is based around working in and leading a dedicated surgical teams. As a pioneer of enhanced surgical recovery in the UK he has adapted much of this surgical approach to his care of patients in the private sector.

He is a highly trained colorectal surgeon having been through UK surgical training in addition to the sitting a higher degree for surgical research in the US. He spent 9 years as Consultant Surgeon at the world-famous St Mark’s Hospital and then moved with colleagues to set up an equally renowned colorectal unit at University College London Hospitals where he remains the senior colorectal surgeon.

Mr Windsor believes firmly, in a team-based approach to care. Within London Digestive Surgery he works very closely with Mr Ed Wescott a colleague and Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Guys and St Thomas Hospital. The two surgeons operate together (at no extra cost) they care for the in patients together and provided on call cover for urgent and emergency problems. Mr Windsor believes this comprehensive approach provides the best possible care for his patients. He has forged a similar team approach to the surgical management of complex endometriosis with Mr Alfred Cutner, Consultant Gynaecological with joint care and operating at King Edward VII Hospital, London.
